I am sure like so many other Americans. I remember vividly where I was and what I was doing on September 11th in 2001.
I was in Army Infantry basic training. I was in week three out of fourteen weeks. We were out shooting at the rifle range when we all suddenly pulled back to the barracks. We weren't told anything initially. I thought it may be another instance when the still sergeants were trying to scare us.
We all huddled up and sat on the cold linoleum floor of the barracks. The drill sergeant wheeled in a tv and turned it on. As I looked at the tv I couldn't believe what I was witnessing. Both of the twin towers were on fire and smoking heavily. The need broadcaster reported that two planes crashed into the buildings.
It was reported to be a possible terrorist attack. So there I say watching in horror and dismay...then about six months later after getting out of ranger training I found myself in Afghanistan.
