Stop Veterans Suicide!

Stop Veterans Suicide!

The Veteran Suicide rate has climbed to an estimated twenty-two veterans a day nationwide. Doing the simple math on that it means that nearly one veteran every hour will commit suicide. That means that 154 veterans a week commit suicide, 660 veterans a month commit suicide, and a staggering 7,920 veterans a year commit suicide. The World Health Organization released another report in 2017 that stated for every veteran that successfully commits suicide there are 20 more veterans that attempt to commit suicide. If you go by that report that means that nearly 480 veterans attempt suicide each day! This...

America's Homeless Veteran Problem!

America's Homeless Veteran Problem!

Help stop the homeless veteran problem in this country! In 2017 the Department of Housing and Urban Development reported finding roughly 40,000 homeless veterans in the United States. Those two words HOMELESS and VETERAN should never be uttered in the same sentence. The fact that they are says to me that we have a big problem in this country that needs to be addressed. Do we make it hard for criminals and mentally unstable people to purchase guns legally?   Politicians seem to get in an uproar over gun control laws. They claim that a more strict set of gun control laws will help prevent gun violence. I agree that there...

I was in week three out of fourteen weeks. We were out shooting at the rifle range when we all suddenly pulled back to the barracks. We weren't told anything initially. I thought it may be another instance when the still sergeants were trying to scare us. We all huddled up and sat on the cold linoleum floor of the barracks. The drill sergeant wheeled in a tv and...
